Happy Fathers Day

Just a quick one to say Happy Fathers Day to all the Australian Dads and Dads to be out there :D (I believe American Dads celebrate on a different day to here?). Not that I expect that many Dads will be reading a vegetarian blog but you know, for those who are......

Fathers Day was rather quiet around here this year. Mr Un-Veg was in bed after doing night duty last night and the kids all went out with Nanna and Poppy to celebrate. They didn't arrive back here until 5:30pm so it was a mad rush opening up all the Dad's day gifts and stuff before he had to leave for work again.
I filled up my time making Split Pea Burgers because after all the rich food I've eaten this week I needed something healthful. I used Orgran Rice Crumbs this time though instead of breadcrumbs and I have to say they are wonderful in this recipe. The burgers are firm, plump and remain huge (if you want them that way) and the coating on the outside gets a really nice crusty crunch. The breadcrumbs just don't do that.
I also made beef stroganoff for Mr Un-Veg (don't worry, I won't share that but you can make a vegetarian version with seitan. Recipe is here) and an army of his favourite cookies. Isa's Choc Chip Cookies from Vegan with a Vengeance only I subbed the white sugar for Molasses Sugar which makes them super rich and super soft and yummy!
Anyway, like I said, hope all the Dads had a fun day!

2 Remarkable Remarks:

oooh, those cookies look scrumptious!! and Happy Father's Day!! Here in the States, it's celebrated in June :0)

veggiegirl, they are, they're sooooooo moreish! (and I reckon they'd be great as a carob chip too from one carob eater to another)
